LAKEPORT — The late Leszek Forczek was the featured artist at the First Friday Fling at the Main Street Gallery this month, marking his first-ever exhibit in Lake County. Forczek was a resident of Lake County for 17 years before his death in May.
His wife Casse helped set up the paintings and has promoted them.
Forczek was the founder of Illuminism School of Painting. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, “Luminism (aka veil painting) was a late 19th-century style emphasizing a unique clarity of light.” Forczek’s career spanned more than 50 years.
His past exhibits, workshops, awards and articles are lengthy and impressive.
In Casse Forczek’s words, Forczek’s art is “Illuminism watercolor paintings and his subjects range from landscape, crystal, animal, floral, to figural.
The climate changes and destruction of our lakes and mountains was a big concern to my husband and it’s reflected in his work.”
